About Captain Rom Captain For Hire

I am a sailor/Captain

I have been around boats nearly my whole life. Up until 2005, it had always been power boats. (~25 ft) I began sailing in 2005 on a small Hobie Cat while vacationing in Fiji and fell in love with the sensation of using only the wind for power!

I was hooked and when I retired from law enforcement in 2012, I set about learning and gaining experience. That’s me on the right in San Jose Del Cabo, Baja Mexico Sur. Two friends and I moved his boat (Island Packet 34) from Chula Vista Marina (San Diego) to La Paz Mexico!

I am presently the Captain of a commercial charter sailing vessel, Jada. She is 68 feet of sheer beauty. Built in 1938 in Stockton, she was once ship of the stars in Newport Beach where she hosted celebrities the likes of Errol Flynn. She has been to Tahiti and was a charter vessel in Hawaii, before coming to San Diego where she resides today behind the Sheraton Marina Hotel.

With any endeavor I take on, I always question myself and ask what value can I bring to the table. (For both, customer and employer) I am a man of honor and integrity and I am proud of this fact.

I enjoy meeting people and sharing my gift of being on the water and the wonders of the environment.

Safety is always my primary concern. I have never had an insurance claim.

I have excellent patience and love the art of teaching someone to skipper a vessel.

I love to learn and I enjoy expanding my knowledge of sailing and most recently, power vessels. I am a quick learner and master things quickly.
